Impulse Noise Decibel Meter - Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Alfarays.com (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information in connection with the Impulse Noise Decibel Meter mobile application (“the App”). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Information We Use

The App is designed to measure ambient sound and noise levels (decibels) using your device's microphone. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not collect personal information such as your name or email address. The data described below is used solely to operate the App's features on your device.

1. Microphone & Audio Data
With your permission, the App accesses your device's microphone to measure the sound pressure level of your surroundings in real time. The incoming audio is used only to calculate decibel values (including A-, C-, and Z/linear-weighted readings and min/max/average statistics). This processing happens entirely on-device. The App does not record, save, or transmit any audio, and no recordings or audio files are ever created. You may deny microphone permission, but the App cannot measure sound levels without it.

2. Local Storage
The App stores a small amount of data locally on your device using iOS's standard UserDefaults, specifically:
◦ Your manual calibration offset (a numeric value used to fine-tune readings)

This data never leaves your device.

Data We Do Not Collect

To be explicit, the App does not collect any of the following:

◦ Names, email addresses, or any contact information
◦ Audio recordings or saved sound files
◦ Location data
◦ Device identifiers or advertising IDs
◦ Crash reports or analytics events
◦ Usage statistics or behavioral data
◦ Photos, videos, or contacts
◦ Any data transmitted to our own servers — we operate none

Third-Party Services

The App does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs. It makes no network requests and sends no data to any external service.

Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information, and no data ever leaves your device. Because the App does not transmit or store data on any server, there is no information for us to share. We may only disclose information in the following limited circumstances:

◦ Legal Requirements - We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal requests by public authorities.
◦ Protection of Rights - We may disclose information when necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

Data Retention & Deletion

Because we do not collect or store personal data on any server, there is nothing to delete on our end. The calibration preference stored on your device is removed when you uninstall the App.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us at contact@alfarays.com and we will promptly address it.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the updated policy on this page and revising the “Effective Date” at the top. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
